Thriller, uno dei brani più famosi della storia della musica di Michael Jackson, è la prima rielaborazione di un brano non originale dei Sofia Trio. Rappresenta un tributo al grande cantante/showman americano proprio nel 12° anniversario dalla sua scomparsa (25 giugno 2009).
Il brano è stato arrangiato da Luca Deriu per sestetto tromba, trombone, voce, basso, chitarra e batteria durante il periodo di emergenza sanitaria dovuta al covid-19. Si cerca di dare una personale interpretazione in chiave "contemporary jazz" rispettando la melodia come caratteristica fondamentale della composizione di partenza del 1982 di Rod Temperton pensata per Michael Jackson.

One of the most famous songs in the history of Michael Jackson's music, Thriller is the first reworking of a non-original piece by Sofia Trio. It represents a tribute to the great American singer / showman on the 12th anniversary of his death (June 25, 2009). This song is arranged by Luca Deriu for sextet trumpet, trombone, voice, bass guitar and drums during the emergency period caused by covid-19.
The Sofia Trio tries to give a personal interpretation in a "contemporary jazz" key, respecting the melody as a fundamental characteristic of the 1982 original composition that Rod Temperton made for Michael Jackson.
